the Shifting of Shape

a retelling of Virginia Hamilton's American black folktale, Miz Hatie

Welcome, welcome! This is the fourth story offering on this substack site and the first of two this month. Please see more in the show notes about the story - an American Black folklore retold by a story by Virginia Hamilton.

Thank you all who take a moment in your day to pause and have a listen - so very grateful. Your presence and precious listening here are such a rare gift.

Try to let yourself just do this one thing (maybe two if you are sipping tea) and listen - listen with your lungs, and heart, with your pelvis and all the bird bones of your feet. Allow yourself (and this is a practice) to immerse, to soak yourself in the story. For this way of relating to stories can offer each of such such singular and collective gifts.

After the telling - give yourself the gift of staying with the story - with the images, the sensorium of the story and then perhaps, hours, days or weeks later sweet gifts of meaning and self discovery, of bone deep relating and/or insights might arrive. This is the power of magic of this work!

And if you are based in the UK and are curious about diving deeper into an embodied storytelling experience… Jackie Singer and I are offering something soooo delicious next month.

A bit more here -
